Gap : The sweet capital

gap.jpg
Gap, prefecture of the Hautes-Alpes, with its soft pastel coloured façades, shopping streets and surrounding mountains, has managed to combine modernity with a high quality of life. It boasts an ideal geographic situation and sits at the crossroads of popular tourist routes, such as the Route Napoleon crossing the Champsaur department in the South of the Gap region.

As to outings, Gap has some large venues both for sports and cultural activities, such as the Alp'Aréna ice rink, the Passerelle Theatre or the Salle du Quattro.

Gap hosts a number of international events such as the Tour de France and the Monte Carlo Rally, and the town does credit to the title of “Best sports city of France”, earned in 2013.

Nature lovers will enjoy the Domaine de Charance, the town’s green area with the Conservatoire Botanique National Alpin and an 18-hole golf course in Gap-Bayard in summer, turning into cross-country runs in winter.
