Practical information

All you need to know to fully enjoy your stay

  • Contract : The SARL Gîtes de France Hautes-Alpes only guarantees accommodations having obtained accreditation and listed in this catalogue. Consequently, you must acquire the “Gîtes de France” contract with the obligatory mentionings : accreditation number, date, prices, accompanied by a description of the accommodation.
  • Reception : You must be welcomed by the owner or his agent. We advise you to contact the owner about the hour of arrival and complementary information on how to get there. You can be asked for a deposit on your arrival at the accommodation.
  • Telephone : some gîtes are equipped with the Téléjour system. This way you can receive incoming calls (ask the owner or booking office for the number). With a France Telecom card available at the office you will be able to make all your communications.
  • Tourist tax : Some municipalities in the Hautes-Alpes have established a tourist tax for holidaymakers in order to develop and improve tourist facilities. The owner may ask for it. This tax is not always included in the price.
  • Care of the property : A clean and tidy condition of the gîte must be agreed upon by both parties when the list of contents is checked. During and before the end of the stay the tenant takes care of the cleaning of the house.
  • Capacity of the gîte : Some gîtes offer additional sleeping. However, these extra beds are not taken into account in the ranking the gite. Where the maximum number of people as stated in the brochure is exceeded without prior notice, the owner reserves the right to refuse the extra tenants, or to increase the price.
  • Animals : when animals are allowed you will always need the owner’s consent if you want to bring along more than one pet.
  • Chèques Vacances : Both our booking office and a large number of owners accept payment by “Chèques Vacances” (refund costs are paid for the owner).
  • Extra services : Sheets, household linen or a television set and a cleaning service can be provided by the owner, either for free or at a charge.
  • Weekend : Weekend rentals are from Friday to Sunday or from Saturday to Monday (2 days, 2 nights).
  • Midweek : A 4 nights’ stay from Monday to Friday.
  • Complaints : Any complaints should be reported within 3 days after arrival at the gîte. Prices : Rural gîtes have weekly rates, and the prices for gîtes, bed and breakfasts and campsite are per night. Half board prices at bed and breakfasts are usually per person, on the basis of a double room.
  • Charges (especially heating) : are sometimes not includes in the rental price. This information is stated in the property description attached to the contract.
