- GITE AT THE WATERFRONTThere is no shortage of water in the Alpes du Sud with its numerous dams favourable for swimming, boating and fishing. Serre-Ponçon Lake at the confluence of Durance and Ubaye rivers, at 3000 ha, is the largest artificial lake in Europe, Embrun, le Sautet, and the many rivers and torrents: Durance, Clarée, Buëch, Guisane, Drac, Blanchem Méouge, Blaisance and Avance.
- ACCESS TO SERRE-CHEVALIER SKI AREASerre-Chevalier is one of the largest ski areas in Europe. Sun, clean air and energy describe this welcoming area of more than 250 km of pistes. Guisane valley faces south and you will find the pleasures of traditional villages and the art of living . The resort, from 1200-2800 m altitude, has 77 ski lifts, 111 pistes covering 250 km. The ski school offers courses on all levels. There is a slalom stadium, a snow park and some illuminated pistes. For Nordic ski fans there is 40 km of marked cross-country trails. The area also offers excellent possibilities for ski touring and snowshoeing. In addition: ice climbing, discotheque, ice rink, swimming pool, sauna, hang-gliding, parasailing. Thermal baths. Ice racing.
- ACCESS TO LA MEIJE RESORTSWith its majestic setting, spectacular trails and 2150 m climb in altitude, the La Meije Glacier cable car is a world apart. It is the domain of off-piste skiing. Those who are discovering les Vallons for the first time are counselled to hire a mountain guide. On the other side of the scenic northern faces of La Meije is the 'sunny side' and recreational skiing. 5 km from La Grave, accessible by free shuttle bus, Chazelet, rising to 2300 m, offers recreational and family skiing. 4 button tows, 1 chair lift and red and green pistes. The Villar d'Arène snow area is the place par excellence for the family. 2 blue pistes, 1 red and a luge area. All activities start from the village. For cross-country skiing, head for Villar d'Arène or le vallon d'Arsine, with 10 km of prepared pistes for all levels. The cross-country season is from Christmas to Easter, depending on the snow. Snowshoeing.

" in Vallouise, Prapic village in the Valley of Champsaur, the Shepherd House, home of the Parc de Châteauroux-les-Alpes in the Embrunais and the Meije cable car are places not to be missed.
