- GITE RANDO (HIKERS)The accommodation is situated near one or more marked hiking trails (PR, GR). The owner provides topographical maps (IGN) and guidebooks. He will be able to advise his guests on the itineraries and can provide a packed lunch (if you take your dinners with him).
- GITE AT THE WATERFRONTThere is no shortage of water in the Alpes du Sud with its numerous dams favourable for swimming, boating and fishing. Serre-Ponçon Lake at the confluence of Durance and Ubaye rivers, at 3000 ha, is the largest artificial lake in Europe, Embrun, le Sautet, and the many rivers and torrents: Durance, Clarée, Buëch, Guisane, Drac, Blanchem Méouge, Blaisance and Avance.
- EXPLORING NATUREThis accommodation is located in a well preserved natural setting. The owner will be happy to propose activities to explore nature and wildlife.
- HERITAGEThe accommodation is situated near many cultural, heritage or historic sights (museum, fortification, architectural interest, monument or special interest site). Your host, who is sensitive to and knowledgeable about the region, will be happy to provide information and brochures on the subject. Amongst the Hautes-Alpes highlights: the villages of character, the sundials, the bell towers, the mountain villages, the ancient fortifications, the museums (mine museum, ecological museum, ethnological museum, railway museum).
- ORNITHOLOGYWhether in the Val du Durance reed beds or the snowy mountain peaks, bird life in Hautes-Alpes is abundant. Numerous lakes allow you to observe aquatic species. You can admire the majestic Griffon vultures in Rosans region where they have been successfully reintroduced. In the mountains you can observe grouse, hazel grouse, the golden eagle, the snake eagle and bearded vulture… Your host will be happy to advise you on observation sites and will tell you all about the species that you can see around the gîte.
- ACCESS TO MONTGENEVRE SKI AREAMontgenèvre, the domain of Euro-ski. Montgenèvre (1860-2700 m) is a ski village situated in the heart of a larch forest. It is one of the leading resorts in the French-Italian 'Milky Way' ski area, where the Olympic Games took place in 2006, and one of Europe's largest ski areas (400 km of pistes, 100 ski lifts). There is a snow park and an illuminated piste. Snow guns guarantee good quality snow all winter. For lovers of trails and nature, the cross-country area offers 25 km of pistes. Nursery, snow garden, ice rink, cinema, discotheque.

- Route des Grandes AlpesInaugurated in 1937, the Route of the great Alps is the most beautiful mountain roaming: Thonon-les-Bains at Chin, from Geneva to the Mediterranean, 684 km and 16 passes among the highest in the Alpine french - six of them rising to over 2,000 metres - guide motorists, bikers, cyclists, cycling (and sometimes even... intrepid hikers!).
