WATER, SUNSHINE AND MOUNTAINS
In the Gap region there are two major attractions : heritage and water sports

The town of Embrun used to house the Roman Catholic archdiocese and therefore had a lot of power.
This resulted in several monuments that you can still visit today : the cathedral, the brown tower and
the pedestrian area. The neighbouring villages are interesting as well. If you look for spiritual inspiration you
have to visit the old Boscodon abbey. Don’t miss the Picomtal castle in the same village of Les Crots.
In Saint-André-d'Embrun you can go for a pleasant walk in the forest in les Saulces, and from Saint-Sauveur
you have a magnificent view over lake Serre-Ponçon.
In fact, the Serre-Ponçon Dam gave the Embrun area a second destination : here you can do all sorts of water sports
in the sunshine, surrounded by mountains, go and visit the Saint Michel chapel or the “demoiselles coiffées”.
Your holiday will be complete by visiting one of the many festivities such as the mountain festival in Baratier or
the reconstitution of log driving on the Durance river.
